About Us
The Rose Orchestra is excited to be moving forward into its second decade of inspired performances on the stage of the world-class Rose Theatre. We create for you high quality live entertainment that appeals to a wide variety of musical tastes.
The Rose Orchestra has a vast pool of familiar talented musicians, many of whom have been performing for Brampton audiences for over 20 years! The camaraderie of the musicians is evident in each performance; we are really just one big musical family.
We believe that music is for all generations, and we provide opportunities for the young musicians of Brampton through our Rosebud Orchestra. Children aged 8 to 18 are coached and trained by the popular David Rehner along with other enthusiastic coaching musicians.
Our Conductors
Colin Clarke
Colin Clarke is a distinguished Canadian conductor, educator, clinician, and composer dedicated to musical excellence and youth development. Raised in Brampton, his musical journey took root at Chinguacousy Secondary School alongside early mentorship from Canadian brass legend W. Bramwell Smith Jr. Clarke went on to launch the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (TYWO), building it into one of Canada’s premier youth ensembles and leading them in multiple performances at Carnegie Hall, where he debuted in 2006.
His expansive professional career includes guest conducting the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Canadian Brass, and the National Youth Band of Canada, with international engagements spanning Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Beyond TYWO, Clarke has served as Artistic Director of the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra and leads the Oscar Peterson Program at the Royal Conservatory of Music. He is a Member of the Order of Canada.
Pratik Gandhi
Pratik Gandhi (he/him/his) is a conductor, percussionist, and researcher based in Toronto. He serves as music director for both the Rouge River Winds—a position he has held for over a decade—and the Milton Philharmonic Orchestra. A sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, he directs the wind ensemble and teaches conducting. He has also guest-conducted numerous regional ensembles, including the Burlington, Cathedral Bluffs, and Oakville Symphony Orchestras.
In demand across Canada as an adjudicator, Pratik is Vice-Chair of the concert band division for MusicFest Canada. His upcoming adjudication engagements include the Capital Region MusicFest in Ottawa and MusicFest Nationals in Calgary.
As a scholar, Pratik researches Canadian wind band composers with a focus on equity and representation. He has authored articles for Canadian Winds, contributed a chapter on decolonizing band music practices to Winds of the North, and compiled a public database of Canadian wind compositions. He frequently presents workshops for music educators on conducting, repertoire, and percussion pedagogy.
Pratik is delighted to return to the Rose Orchestra and the Brampton community for two concerts during the 2026–27 season, and extends his sincere thanks to the orchestra and board for the opportunity.
Mark McCallen
Education and music have been the two enduring passions of Mark McCallen’s life. A graduate of the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto, Mark has devoted his career to inspiring and supporting young people—as a teacher, music educator, mentor, and school principal.
Throughout his career, Mark has believed strongly in the importance of a well-rounded education and in the power of the arts to build confidence, creativity, discipline, and community. Music has remained a constant thread in his life, providing opportunities to connect with others and to experience the joy of creating something together.
Mark is currently the President and Artistic Director of the Brampton Children’s Chorus, an organization he founded in 2014. Through the Chorus, he has created opportunities for young singers to develop their musical abilities while experiencing the joy and camaraderie of performing together. He particularly values the opportunity to watch young people grow—not only as musicians, but as individuals.
Mark is delighted to be the guest conductor of the Rose Orchestra, continuing a long-standing relationship with an organization that has been an integral part of the Brampton Children’s Chorus’ history and a vital part of the broader Brampton community.
