The Brampton Children's Chorus

Orch-Dec-1745.jpg

Founded in September 2014 by Artistic Director Mark McCallen, the Brampton Children’s Chorus is a vibrant community choir for young singers ages 8–14. Built on a mission to inspire youth through rich musical education and dynamic performance opportunities, the chorus fosters inclusivity, nurtures emerging talent, and builds lifelong skills while strengthening connections within the local community. Weekly rehearsals at Central Public School give choristers a supportive space to share their love of music and participate in unique collaborative experiences.

The chorus is powered by a dedicated team of exceptional music educators and performers:

  • Mark McCallen (Founder, Artistic Director & President): An alumnus of St. Michael’s Choir School, Mark holds a Bachelor of Music Education (Choral Studies specialist) from the University of Toronto. Following a distinguished career in education, he continues to dedicate his time to expanding opportunities for young singers.

  • Manishya Jayasundera (Senior Choir Conductor): A Toronto-based educator, singer, and pianist, Manishya holds a B.Mus. from U of T, an ARCT in Piano Performance, and is pursuing a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Western University.

  • Belén Fazio (Primary Choir Conductor): A U of T Music Education graduate and Master of Teaching candidate, Belén brings her journey full circle as a former Brampton Children’s Chorus chorister now inspiring its youngest voices.

  • Gillian (Assistant Artistic Leadership): A U of T Music Education honours graduate and incoming OISE Master of Teaching candidate, Gillian brings extensive experience as an active private, Montessori, and camp music educator.

  • Sing Yuan Liew (Collaborative Pianist): An internationally accomplished soloist and chamber musician from Malaysia, Sing Yuan is a Doctoral Candidate in Piano Performance at Western University and an active collaborative partner across the GTA.

The Brampton Children's Chorus is thrilled to share the joy of the holiday season on stage with the Rose Orchestra!
